Last night I upgraded to wordpress 2.7.  I have never had trouble upgrading before but there is a first time for everything and as the saying goes, tech happens.  First thing make a back up – done with no trouble.  Next begin uploading what I need to my hosting server.  This is where trouble began.  I could FTP some files but not others.  I would receive a notice that I was not an authorized user and did not have rights.  So since I was halfway through the install process I now had a broken blog.  I could not restore the back up either.  So I called my provided and was told I would here back in a few days.  Now panic sets in.  I know all is not lost and given time things will get back to normal, but my blog is important to me and I hate to see it broken.

So I send out a call to my network, (twitter and plurk) in no time I have lots of suggestions and offers a help.  Following the advice of my network the trouble is quickly resolved.  I finish uploading the wordpress files.  I am thinking I might be done shortly, nope not a chance.  Next when I begin the upgrade process  I get multiple error message, word press cannot find my database, or other messages that it does not recognize my login information.  Another call to the network and Jen Wagner comes to my aid.  We skype and she talks through various cycles of installs and uninstalls till finally the blog is up and running.  Given time I would have solved it myself but having a buddy who can be calm and thoughtful can certainly reduce stress and makes the process a lot more fun.  Thanks everyone and thank you Jen.
