Thinking Blog Award

Thinking Blog Award

Jen Wagner has tagged me with the Thinking Blog Award, I am flattered. As my past English teachers can attest I have always struggled with writing. Get me talking, I won’t stop. Try to get me writing, I won’t start. I blog for two reasons; to force myself to learn to how to write and to keep track of my ever evolving journey into learning and technology. I have to say it has been quite a journey this last year or so. My network has grown in all sorts of dimensions. I have met many fellow explorers face to face this year. The tools I use, and the conversations, are much richer and more satisfying. I feel empowered to move forward and pass through obstacles. I have the network and the blogs I read to thank for the surge of confidence. You are all awesome. Thanks again Jen for your kind words and support.

So here goes, the object of this tag is to:

If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.

The hardest part of any meme is choosing who to tag next. So I spent the evening and part of today reading through my bloglines account, and reflecting on which blogs I go back to the most to find the good bits I share with my colleagues. I could certainly choose more then 5.

My five tags in no particular order;

Konrad Glogowski, Blog of Proximal Development – I meet Konrad at EduCon 2.0 in the library. I had the pleasure of participating in a conversation that was thoughtful, inspiring and hysterical.* It was then I began to subscribe to his blog. I picked up a lot of good blogs at EduCon from those face to face connections. I have gone back to read the archives of his blog, it is full of deep thought and information it certainly gets me thinking.

*other conversation participants Jen Wagner, Sandy Wagner and Colleen King

Lisa Durff, Durff’s Blog – Lisa and I had met in Second Life and twitter, and then face-to-face at EduCon 2.0. Lisa has a down to earth practical side I greatly appreciate and it carries over into her blog. It is well worth a read.

Tim Stahmer, Assorted Stuff – Tim was one of the first blogs to which I subscribed. I often send colleagues links to his blog posts. I find it very informative and thoughtful.

Jeff Utecht, The Thinking Stick – I used to teach overseas at international schools as Jeff does now. I think this is what first caught my attention. The Thinking Stick is one of those exceptional blogs that has a little bit of ever thing; how to do, what not to do, speculation, and a real strong look at implementation.

Ben Rimes, The Tech Savvy Educator – Ben Rimes is the principle blogger at The Tech Savvy Educator, I find it an eclectic mix of information. I have many posts saved as favorites and I seem to turn these again and again.

Have fun exploring these blogs if you do not already read them. One of the positive aspects of meme’s is the chance to broaden and deep your learning options. Enjoy.

  1. Congratulations on your award! I hate to write too and have to make myself write on my blog as well. I have learned so much from reading what others have to say and writing about what I have learned. By reading your post, I have picked up two more great blogs I can learn from. Thank you!
