The Grand Gala

The Grand Gala

The Discovery Educator Network officially opened its doors in Second Life. There were up to 63 avatars an any one time at the event, I guess maybe 100 people came through the DEN that evening. Many people were new to Second life. It is wonderful to see educators stretching themselves into new areas, expanding their learning networks and having fun. Many others have blogged about the event and I suggest you read their reviews. Looking forward to getting the next events going.

  1. It was very exciting to attend the DEN Gala. Since this was my first Second Life outing, I was a bit nervous. I enjoyed the evening. Very well planned. The building is awesome. After it was over, I thought about how I, being a newbie, could have gotten more out of something like this. Perhaps in the future, there could be an event where people are introduced and state what they do in RL (just like we do when we attend a course). Or, perhaps, games could have been played where people are sent to different corners of the room depending on their area of education. Just some ideas to bring the newbies on board.
