Upcoming workshops and new course

I have not felt I have had time to write. I have been busy getting a new workshop off the ground and putting together a new course. I have just started a wiki workshop. I meet with the teachers for a 2 hour session where we discuss wikis, there uses, look at some examples and then set some up at wiki spaces. For the next three weeks they work on their wikis, then we will meet again for a progress check. We’ll repeat that in another three weeks. Very similar to the blogging workshops I did earlier. We have three versions going for Elementary, Middle and High school teachers. So far so good, seems like an easier concept to get across then blogs and rss readers.

The other thing that is taking my attention in the development of the course “Differentiating Instruction with Technology.” Teachers in our district can take the class for PDPs or credit. I have been trying to gather resources and collect them at my resource wiki. It is still a work in progress but if you have any suggestions please send them along. The course was originally designed to lend support to our ELL, Title I and Special ed teachers. But it seems to have attracted a far greater audience and I am happily surprised. We have 25 registered and now have a waiting list growing. Participants include General ed, Special ed., Title I, ELL, Gifted & Talented, teacher assistants, OTs, PTs, and from all three levels. This is a very diverse group and I am certain to learn so much from them. I hope they can learn from me as well. I must admit I am a little nervous many of the participants have not participated in other trainings or workshops I have done before, and more then a few have expressed apprehension at taking a technology related course. I feel I need to make a good impression, and help them find technology a useful tool. I want them to take more workshops and feel they can be successful technology users. The course starts in a week and will go to early June. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  1. Anne,

Thanks very much they look great. In fact you sent me two great links, the math resources will help out some of our Middle School Special Ed Teachers who are working on a wiki to support their very diverse learners.
    Thanks again,
    Beth
