Suffern Middle School in SL

Suffern Middle School in SL

I just left a presentation at the ISTE skypark in Second Life given by Maggie (Peggy Sheehy) on her inspiring work in SL. There were about 25 people in attendance – standing room only. I was very impressed by the work that she, SL volunteers and her fellow teachers have done. Creating a virtual learning environment for 8th grade students at her middle school. I think I am more impressed that a school board agreed to the project. (There is…

Okay I am Hooked…

I never thought I would ‘get it’ but I am hooked on Second Life. I have spend hours wandering this Metaverse, checking out museums, libraries, regions and meeting some pretty terrific people. I have attended classes, meetings and socials. Each time I come away impressed. Now I want to learn how to hold these classes, give presentations and show video. A Vacation in Second Life

A Vacation in Second Life

I have finally taken the plunge and began my Second Life (seems more like my 4th after mom, wife and educator). I know I have seen this in screencasts before, either the addition of the black box or blurred area. In fact I have even done this myself at one time but for the life of me can not think how to do it now. I am working on a Mac using Snapz…

Inspiration is everywhere

Inspiration is everywhere

I am truly amazed how inspired I feel when I read my blog feeds in the morning. I am constantly thinking “WOW! what a great idea”, or “Why didn’t I think of that?” It adds a ton of things to my to do list, but it really helps keeps me motivated and inspired. Take for example my resent inspiration about Podcasting. I am strggling with getting podcasting really off the ground, and always looking for examples on share with teachers….

PM Wiki embedding video

PM Wiki embedding video

I was wondering if anyone out there can lend a hand. I use PM wiki, and am going to create a page of my favorite videos. This way they are all there when I need them. PM wiki does not let you embed video by default you need to add some php to the cookbook. The PM wiki website has recipes for embedding youtube and google video. I have those working fine, though nothing is currently up on my page….
