I just left a presentation at the ISTE skypark in Second Life given by Maggie (Peggy Sheehy) on her inspiring work in SL. There were about 25 people in attendance – standing room only. I was very impressed by the work that she, SL volunteers and her fellow teachers have done. Creating a virtual learning environment for 8th grade students at her middle school. I think I am more impressed that a school board agreed to the project. (There is hope after all.) I highly recommend reading her blog for all the details.

I am still feeling my way around here and am learning more each time. I have met some terrific people and am really enjoying the collaborative and intellectual atmosphere. I wonder how long it will be before I join others and create an island of our own? What would we do there, what would our purpose be? I am inspired to create….

    Peggy’s talk was amazing and really conveyed the power and breadth of what they are achieving, trailblazers in every respect.

    I had the pleasure of spending two days there over spring break. I would have spent the week if I could. I blogged the whole thing, including video and a short podcast. It’s all here:

  2. One of the comments I received on a survey of our elementary staff regarding: What is Second Life? was this: it’s what I have after the last bell rings and the children leave.
