Tools to Support Differentiated Instruction

Tools to Support Differentiated Instruction

I am currently teaching a graduate course – Differentiating Instruction with Technology. The participants are very creative and enthusiastic. I have just been reviewing the first set of projects and I am very impressed. I hope at the end of the course to share some of the projects, activities, lessons and learning resources they have created on the district website and my resource wiki.

In the mean time I wanted to share two tools that are making their ways around the edu-blogs, AnswerTips and ToonDoo. AnswerTips is a tool that you can add to a website, blog or wiki that allows the reader to double click on the word and see the definition and they can even have the word read to them. A great tool for an English language learner or a limited reader. I see toondoo being used to create cartoons, combining images and words, to help get content across. Both are worth a look.

  1. I am just starting reading a book called “How to differentiate instruction in mixed-ability classrooms” by Carol Ann Tomlinson. Our district is about to invest much time, energy and money into staff development around the areas of differentiated instruction. I would really appreciate you and your students commenting on the questions that I pose at my blog

    Thanks
