Great event at WOW2

Last night was a great show at WOW2 (Women of Web). Last night’s show as hosted by Vicki Davis, Cheryl Oaks, Jennifer Wagner and the guest list included Scott McCloud, Pete Reilly, Doug Johnson, and Miguel Guhlin (sp corrected). The show takes place every Tuesday 9pm at EdTechTalk. In the past I have only been able to listen to the podcasts but recently I have been able to listen live, this means I can participate in the chat – it…

The hidden messages

The hidden messages

A few days ago Pete Rilley wrote a great post on Education’s Hidden Message. It really struck a cord with me. I have pretty much felt this way about education since I was a student, and that is one of the reasons I entered the field. One of the many messages my parents gave me while growing up was in essence “if you don’t like something you can walk away or you can change it.” Some times I feel overwhelmed,…

Upcoming workshops and new course

Upcoming workshops and new course

I have not felt I have had time to write. I have been busy getting a new workshop off the ground and putting together a new course. I have just started a wiki workshop. My 13 year old daughter recently produced a youtube video clip and is now excited about future projects. Her 9 year old brother is soon to follow in her foot steps. Will writes… How cool is it going to be for her growing up with the ability to create and publish whatever floats her boat (as long…

Updating the Blog

Updating the Blog

Well it is a vacation week and I have been playing with the blog. I upgraded Word Press, and am toying with a new template, PressRow. I was able to do some modifications but am having trouble getting the archive and about pages to work, I just get copies of the blog page. I have followed the directions provided by the designer, but no luck. I like the ability to look at posts by categories, and month. I will play…

Mac Resource

Mac Resource

I am a Mac user, though I work in a PC district, and who knows the way things are going I may soon be playing with linux. But when you are fighting an up hill battle to maintain the status quo it is hard to move forward let alone change direction, but I digress I am a Mac user, and sometimes I bring my Mac to work to use some of the productivity programs I have installed. A colleague asked…
