Questioning is essential to growth.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few weeks this word had caught my attention in the news, my twitter feed, conversations and my rss reader. Questioning seems to have a more negative connotation then positive in my recent experience. I have been wondering if this impression prevents our students from asking questions.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/questioning?show=2&amp;t=1289510434\" target=\"_blank\">Merriam-Webster <\/a>online dictionary defines Question as follows.<\/p>\n<p>1: to ask a question of or about<br \/>\n2. to interrogate Intensively: Cross-Examine<br \/>\n3: a: Doubt, Distribute<br \/>\nb: to subject to analysis: Examine<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/questioning?show=2&amp;t=1289510434\" target=\"_blank\">examples listed<\/a> were primarily for the meaning Doubt and Dispute. When we question a decision,\u00a0\u00a0 authority, or idea we use the word to mean we doubt or disagree.\u00a0 Did we actually ask a question?\u00a0 Did we seek to understand why a decision was made?\u00a0 Did we ask about the pros and cons?
