{"id":161,"date":"2008-02-12T14:08:19","date_gmt":"2008-02-12T19:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bethknittle.net\/WP_Blog\/?p=161"},"modified":"2008-11-30T13:06:01","modified_gmt":"2008-11-30T18:06:01","slug":"echo-chamber-or-fernentation-tank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bethknittle.net\/WP_Blog\/?p=161","title":{"rendered":"Echo Chamber or Fermentation Tank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">During my <a href=\"http:\/\/educon20.wikispaces.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">EduCon 2.0<\/a> experience I participated in many discussions.<span> <\/span>In one such side conversation we bantered about the idea that we are all just part of an echo chamber.<span> <\/span>I have come across this idea before in the various blogs I read.<span> <\/span>It is the notion that we are all just preaching to the choir. To some extent I think this is true, but we all must step out of the chamber and into our districts and schools.<span> <\/span>Here in our schools we often stand alone speaking a foreign tongue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So I have decided to think of my network as more of a fermentation tank then echo chamber.<span> <\/span>Here we explore; the what ifs, look for best practices, fine tune our thinking, argue a little, and garner support.<span> <\/span>So when we step out of the tank and into our schools we can speak with conviction, offer evidence and stand our ground.<span> <\/span>Sometimes I lose the leaven and need to dive back into the tank to refuel. Sometimes I \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcstink up the place\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcstir up the pot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 with my ideas, as an administrator once told me.<span> <\/span>I take that as a compliment, we can not foster change and deep thinking without questioning our current ideas and practices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So to the fellow members of the fermentation tank lets hope we produce a fine wine or good ale.
