{"id":131,"date":"2007-08-23T17:47:52","date_gmt":"2007-08-23T22:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bethknittle.net\/WP_Blog\/?p=131"},"modified":"2008-07-23T11:38:23","modified_gmt":"2008-07-23T16:38:23","slug":"plymouth-teachers-enter-second-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bethknittle.net\/WP_Blog\/?p=131","title":{"rendered":"Plymouth Teachers Enter Second Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I had the wonderful opportunity to help twenty four k-12 teachers from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouthschools.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Plymouth Public Schools<\/a> enter<a href=\"http:\/\/www.secondlife.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Second Life<\/a>.  These teachers are part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/nausetschools.org\/lighthouselearning\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Lighthouse Learning<\/a> project.  It is was so much fun to see them be so willing to try something so different.  I think they are off to a great start.  So if you meet some new people roaming around the education islands please be kind and offer a helping hand.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Technical note:<\/span> SL eventually stopped participants from making accounts.. seems their servers thought that it was a spam attack as the school appears as a single IP. SL support&#8217;s solution &#8211; go to different locations, hard to do when you are in the middle of a training session. So next time I think I will have them create an account at home before the session.
